Like by date or something...? I'd like to potentially join some but clicking randomly into them to see when they were last active only see it was 2015 or something is :/
There are a couple of methods I know of, but none of them perfect (and apologies if you've already tried these!).
If you want to browse communities that updated in the last day/week/month, you can do it through the Community Search. Unfortunately, I think comms may have to opt into the directory or it's just pulling a random selection, because I know I'm in comms that have updated recently that aren't showing up in my search.
There's also the Interests Search, which will get you comms that don't come up in the community search once you filter down to communities, and the results will be listed by when they were last updated. Unfortunately, this one does rely on the comm having interests filled out on its profile.
There's also the general Content Search, where you're searching post contents chronologically and then have to manually skim for which of those are communities.
